Bali 1 - 7D6N Itenerary

We are making a 7D6N trip to Bali from 12/8 to 18/8/2010. Did some research on internet. That was how the 7D6N went:

D1 - Fly AirAsia from Penang to Kuala Lumpur to Bali. (Flight AK5353/AK363) Arrived Bali 2.30 pm. Bali and M'sia same time zone. Took taxi to hotel Wina Holiday Villa, Jalan Pantai Kuta, 30 mins. After checking in strolled along Kuta beach towards south. Exit from Hard Rock Cafe juntion. Dinner at Chinese restaurant along Jalan Kertikar Plaza. Walked back to hotel.

D2 - After hotel breakfast explored northern part of Kuta beach. Exit from Club 66 to Jalan Legian (main toursit street) - Jln Poppies 1 - Jalan Poppies 2 - Jalan Pantai Kuta - Jalan Kertika Plazza. Chat with the tour agent to get some idea on car rental and places to see. Dinner at a seafood stall near hotel.

D3 - After b/f took mini bus to Denpasar (1 hr). By chance and sheer luck witnessed the colourful "Potong Gigi" ceremany conducted in a local temple. Otherwise the trip was a ruin. On return the only other passenger was a German lady. We asked the driver to detour and dropped us at Courrefour, Sunset Road, for late lunch and a little shopping. Took taxi back to hotel, washed up, and dinner at a German restaurant at Jln Legian. Haggled with the tour agent again and booked car for tomorrow's sightseeing trip to Bedugul and Tanah Lot. (12 hours for Rp400,000)

D4 - Early b/f. Car pick-up 8.30 am. Itenerary: Monkey Forest - Royal Temple - Luwak Coffee plantation - Pacung Terrace Rice Field - Bedugul Ulun Danu Temple - Tanah Lot - Dinner at Jimbaran beach (rip-off) - Back to hotel. Haggled with driver and booked tomorrow's trip to Ubud and Kintamani Mt Batur live volcano. (12 hrs for Rp350,000)

D5 - Early b/f. Car pick-up 8.30 am. Itenerary: Barong Dance Show - Ubud (Told the driver to skip the batik centre, silver and gold smith, wood and stone carving, art shops etc. hahaha...) - visit Royal Palace - Babi Guling lunch ( a big let down, didn't bother to try the Dirty Duck restaurant) - Mt Batur Kintamani - Sanur Beach - Back to hotel. Dinner at Indonesian restaurant at Jln Legian.

D6 - After late b/f more souvenir hunting (wife), massage, spa, beach combing. Wondering how the mat salehs can tahan sunbathe under the scorching sun. Took candid beach shots. Dinner at Indonesian restaurant at Jln Pantai Kuta. Highlight of the day - Caught the money changer conman pants down in the act.

D7 - After b/f one last fling along Jln Legian and Jln Pantai. Checked out 12 noon. Taxi to airport. Return flight 2.30 pm. Transit KL to Penang. Home sweet home 11 pm.

Actually there are more things you can do in Bali - snorkeling, surfing, rafting and of course the late night activities. Or simply lay back by the hotel pool. Nite clubs and discos open until wee hours. The bungee jumping in Club 66 (Kuta Beach) only starts from 2 am. Do a little reasearch on the internet b4 you book flight and hotel. Kuta is where the actions are.

The one place you MUST see is Bedugul Ulun Danu temple. It is featured in the Rp50,000 note. You'll kick yourself if you don't.

Vacation At Lumut And Pangkor Island

Ferry to Pangkor Island
Lumut Jetty

Just returned from 4D3N (20-23/4/2009) vacation at Swiss Garden Darmai Laut Resort in Lumut; compliment of my daughter Shanice. The resort is 30 minutes drive from Lumut jetty where you can board the ferry to Pangkor Island for RM10 return. The ferry leaves every half hour from 6.30 a.m. to 8.30 pm.

Travel tips on Pangkor Island: Do not rent the motorbikes if you intend to go round the island. Some parts of the roads are too steep and winding. Be safe, rent a car or taxi. (Bike rental RM10/hr, car/taxi RM20/hr off peak period.) It takes only 30 mins to go round the island non-stop, and not more than 3 hours with lots of stopovers at various interesting sites.
